What makes Hwei dangerous

Hwei paints combinations from three schools — Disaster (lasers, meteors), Serenity (shields, speed) and Torment (roots, fear zones) — ten total spells. His ultimate marks and follows you, exploding in AoE despair. His poke range and CC variety outmatch most mages.

How to play against Hwei

• 1All his damage is skillshots — mobility and juking gut him.
• 2Rush him down: every good spell needs a two-part cast, pressure breaks the painting.
• 3The ult follows YOU — run at his team so it explodes on them... or just away from yours.
• 4He's immobile: one committed dive ends the exhibition.

  Signature of the Visionary

  Hwei primes enemy champions he damages with his abilities for his signature finishing touch.Hitting an enemy with a second damaging spell completes his signature, leaving it beneath them. The signature detonates after a short delay, dealing magic damage to all enemies in range.

  Strong: full combos detonate a bonus damage mark. Weak: needs both hits — break his painting rhythm with pressure.

  Hwei envisions a series of disasters, allowing him to paint a devastating blow.This ability replaces Hwei's abilities with damaging abilities: Devastating Fire, Severing Bolt, and Molten Fissure.

  Strong: the Disaster school — lasers, meteors and rolling flame poke. Weak: all straight skillshots — lateral movement beats the school.

  Subject: Serenity

  Hwei envisions a series of serenities, allowing him to paint invigorating settings.This ability replaces Hwei's abilities with utility abilities: Fleeting Current, Pool of Reflection, and Stirring Lights.

  Strong: Serenity — shields, mana and team move speed. Weak: defensive casts cost him damage tempo — punish the pivot.

  Hwei envisions a series of torments, allowing him to paint controlling visages.This ability replaces Hwei's abilities with crowd control abilities: Grim Visage, Gaze of the Abyss, and Crushing Maw.

  Strong: Torment — roots, fear pools and pulls for picks. Weak: static zones with wind-ups — walk around, never through.

  Spiraling Despair

  Hwei paints a vision of pure despair. The first enemy champion struck becomes the center of an expanding painting that slows and damages nearby enemies. The vision explodes after reaching its maximum size or when the champion dies.

  Strong: a seeking eye that follows and detonates in AoE despair. Weak: it tracks a marked target — run it AWAY from your team.
