A long-range mage who roots you with a bind and executes with a huge laser.

What makes Lux dangerous

Lux binds you from long range with her Q (a two-target root), pokes and shields, and her point-and-click-detonated ultimate is a huge laser that bursts you down once her passive and combo line up. She's squishy and immobile, but her root-into-full-combo can delete a carry from screens away.

How to play against Lux

• 1Dodge her Q bind — it's a slow skillshot and the setup for all her damage. Stand behind minions and sidestep it; no root, no combo.
• 2She's immobile with no escape. Assassins and hard engage punish her hard once her Q is on cooldown.
• 3Her shield (W) protects her lane; don't waste all-in resources into it. Trade when her shield and Q are down.
• 4Respect her ult range — she can snipe you low from a screen away. Don't sit at low health in a straight line from her.

  Illumination

  Lux's damaging spells charge the target with energy for a few seconds. Lux's next attack ignites the energy, dealing bonus magic damage (depending on Lux's level) to the target.

• Q
  Light Binding

  Lux releases a sphere of light that binds and deals damage to up to two enemy units.

  Strong: a long-range two-target root — the setup for all her damage. Weak: a slow skillshot — stand behind minions and sidestep; no root, no combo.

• W
  Prismatic Barrier

  Lux throws her wand and bends the light around any friendly target it touches, protecting them from enemy damage.

• E
  Lucent Singularity

  Fires an anomaly of twisted light to an area, which slows nearby enemies. Lux can detonate it to damage enemies in the area of effect.

• R
  Final Spark

  After gathering energy, Lux fires a beam of light that deals damage to all targets in the area. In addition, triggers Lux's passive ability and refreshes the Illumination debuff duration.

  Strong: a huge point-and-click laser that snipes low targets across the map. Weak: it needs the Q root first — dodge Q and don't sit low in a straight line.

Lux is AP burst. Magic resist (Mercury's Treads, an MR item) and a Banshee's Veil to block her Q bind answer her. Above all, dodge her Q — without the root she can't land her combo.
