Rell counters (Support)

Common role: Support

The best counter to Rell in Support is Poppy: 52.8% win rate over 621 ranked games on patch 26.21.

An armored engage machine who crashes in and magnetizes your team together.

What makes Rell dangerous

Rell crashes in mounted with a knock-up, breaks shields with Q, tethers an ally for resists, and her ultimate constantly drags everyone around her inward — a walking wombo magnet. She trades her own armor to allies and wins every grouped exchange.

How to counter Rell

• 1Spread out: her whole kit rewards you standing together.
• 2Her dismounted form is slow — kite her when the mount is down.
• 3Q breaks shields BEFORE damage — don't pre-shield her engage.
• 4QSS/tenacity blunt her chain CC.

What are Rell's weaknesses?

• ✓Very slow without mount — kiteable for days.
• ✓Engage is committal: a whiffed crash leaves her stranded.
• ✓Low damage on her own.
• ✓Anti-shield Q is wasted if you shield reactively.

Abilities & how to counter them

What each of Rell's abilities does — and how to play around it.

• P
  Break the Mold

Rell's Attacks and Abilities deal additional magic damage and steal Armor and Magic Resist on hit.

Strong: she steals resists from those she hits. Weak: the steal needs contact — kite the slow dismounted form.

• Q
  Shattering Strike

Rell deals magic damage to units in a line, breaking their shields and stunning them.

Strong: breaks ALL shields before damaging. Weak: shield reactively after it, not before.

• W
  Ferromancy: Crash Down

Mounted: Rell Dismounts, crashing down in her armor, Knocking enemies up and gaining a large Shield. While dismounted, she gains Armor, Magic Resist, Attack Speed, and Attack Range, but is Slowed.Dismounted: Rell forms her Mount, gaining a burst of speed and Knocking Up the next enemy she attacks.

Strong: mounted crash-down knock-up opens fights. Weak: the landing is telegraphed — sidestep and she's stranded dismounted.

• E
  Full Tilt

Passive: Rell gains out of combat Move Speed.Active: Rell and an ally gain ramping Move Speed, doubled toward enemies and each other. Her next Attack explodes, dealing magic damage.

Strong: (with mount) a charge that stuns through the first champions hit. Weak: a straight line — stand at angles to the obvious path.

• R
  Magnet Storm

Rell explodes in a magnetic fury, violently Pulling nearby enemies toward herself. Then Rell constantly Drags nearby enemies toward herself for a short while, dealing magic damage over time.

Strong: constantly DRAGS everyone nearby into her — wombo gravity. Weak: fixed small radius — spread and only the tank swims in it.

Itemization

Spacing and kiting: never group in her ult radius, shield after her Q, and walk down the dismounted turtle.
