Trundle counters (Top)

Common role: Top / Jungle

The best counter to Trundle in Top is Heimerdinger: 58.0% win rate over 117 ranked games on patch 26.21.

A troll king who steals your stats and splits the map in half.

What makes Trundle dangerous

Trundle bites away your AD, raises a pillar that blocks paths and slows, chomps faster on his frozen domain, and his ultimate DRAINS a percentage of your max health, armor and MR over time — turning your tank into his stat battery. He wins nearly every extended 1v1.

How to counter Trundle

• 1Don't feed him your tank: the ult drain scales off max HP and resists.
• 2The pillar is his gank and escape — juke around it, don't panic-dash into walls.
• 3Kite the frozen domain: standing on his ice is donating trades.
• 4Grievous cuts the ult drain healing dramatically.

What are Trundle's weaknesses?

• ✓Kited to death by ranged — he must touch you to function.
• ✓Ult on a squishy returns almost nothing.
• ✓The pillar misplaced blocks his own team.
• ✓One-dimensional: deny the 1v1 brawl and he's lost.

Abilities & how to counter them

What each of Trundle's abilities does — and how to play around it.

• P
  King's Tribute

When an enemy unit dies near Trundle, he heals for a percent of its maximum Health.

Strong: heals off dying units around him — lane sustain for free. Weak: starve the sustain by freezing waves away from him.

• Q
  Chomp

Trundle bites his opponent, dealing damage, briefly slowing and sapping some of their Attack Damage.

Strong: bite damage that STEALS your AD for the trade. Weak: short cooldown but melee — every bite needs him in your face.

• W
  Frozen Domain

Trundle turns target location into his domain, gaining Attack Speed, Move Speed, and increased healing from all sources while on it.

Strong: frozen domain — attack speed, move speed, healing amp. Weak: a fixed zone — step off the ice and duel him dry.

• E
  Pillar of Ice

Trundle creates an ice pillar at target location, becoming impassable terrain and slowing all nearby enemy units.

Strong: a pillar that blocks paths, slows and splits fights. Weak: placed wrong it shields YOUR escape — dance around it.

• R
  Subjugate

Trundle immediately steals a percent of his target's Health, Armor and Magic Resistance. Over the next 4 seconds the amount of Health, Armor, and Magic Resistance stolen is doubled.

Strong: drains %max HP, armor and MR over seconds — tank-eater. Weak: cast on a squishy it returns crumbs; Grievous cuts the feast.

Itemization

Never duel him on ice. Ranged kiting + Grievous; make the ult target a squishy, not your tank.
