What makes Orianna dangerous
Orianna commands a ball that she places on allies or enemies, poking and shielding around it. Her ultimate (Shockwave) pulls or knocks everyone near the ball together — a game-ending wombo when paired with AoE follow-up. She controls space and zones you off objectives.
How to play against Orianna
- 1Always track where her ball is — her damage and ult only happen around it.
- 2Never group up when her ball is on a frontliner; that is her wombo setup.
- 3She is completely immobile: dash or engage on her and she has no escape.
- 4Punish her early mana issues; her combo is expensive before she has items.
Weaknesses to exploit
- ✓No mobility whatsoever — highly gankable and easy to engage on.
- ✓Retrieving the ball has short range; catch her without it nearby.
- ✓A misplaced or expired ball leaves her with almost no threat.
- ✓Mana-hungry in the early laning phase.
Abilities & how to counter them
What each of Orianna's abilities does — and how to play around it.
P
Clockwork WindupOrianna's Attacks deal additional magic damage. This damage increases the more Orianna Attacks the same target.
Strong: her autos scale up and hit harder around the ball. Weak: melee-range magic damage on autos — she's still a squishy caster.
Q
Command: AttackOrianna commands her Ball to fire toward a target location, dealing magic damage to targets along the way (deals less damage to subsequent targets). Her Ball remains at the target location after.
Strong: sends the ball to poke and reposition it for combos. Weak: mediocre damage alone — its threat is the ball's position, so track it.
W
Command: DissonanceOrianna commands her Ball to release a pulse of energy, dealing magic damage around it. This leaves a field behind that speeds up allies and slows enemies.
Strong: an AoE burst around the ball that speeds allies and slows you. Weak: fixed radius — leave the ball's area to dodge the damage and slow.
E
Command: ProtectOrianna commands her Ball to attach to an allied champion, Shielding them and dealing magic damage to any enemies it passes through on the way. Additionally, the Ball grants additional Armor and Magic Resist to the champion it is attached to.
Strong: shields an ally and recalls the ball, resetting her setup. Weak: recalling the ball leaves it far from you — engage while it's away.
R
Command: ShockwaveOrianna commands her Ball to unleash a shockwave, dealing magic damage and launching nearby enemies towards the Ball after a short delay.
Strong: pulls or knocks everyone near the ball together — a fight-ending wombo. Weak: it only affects those around the ball, and she's immobile — never clump, then dive her.
Itemization
Magic resist and anti-burst help, but the key is discipline: never clump for her Shockwave, and dive her since she has no escape.
