Kassadin is weak and passive early but becomes one of the scariest scaling mids in the game. His ultimate is a short-cooldown blink that lets him engage, dodge and reposition endlessly, while his kit shields against magic and silences. Once he hits level 16 he can one-shot squishies and is almost impossible to pin down.
How to play against Kassadin
- 1Punish him HARD before level 6-16 — Kassadin is one of the weakest early laners. Push, roam, take plates and end the game before he scales.
- 2Deny his farm and level lead. His power is entirely tied to hitting his level spikes; slow his XP and you delay his takeover.
- 3In the late game he'll blink onto your carry — bring hard CC and peel. His only defense is mobility, so lock him down the moment he engages.
- 4Close the game as a team before ~35 minutes. The longer it goes, the more unbeatable Kassadin becomes.
Weaknesses to exploit
- ✓Extremely weak early game — abuse the first 15 minutes.
- ✓Scaling-dependent; a fast game denies his spikes.
- ✓Squishy and killable if you lock his mobility with CC.
- ✓Falls behind if denied farm and XP.
Abilities & how to counter them
What each of Kassadin's abilities does — and how to play around it.
P
Void StoneKassadin takes reduced magic damage and ignores unit collision.
Q
Null SphereKassadin fires an orb of void energy at a target, dealing damage and interrupting channels. The excess energy forms around himself, granting a temporary shield that absorbs magic damage.
W
Nether BladePassive: Kassadin's basic attacks deal bonus magic damage. Active: Kassadin's next basic attack deals significant bonus magic damage and restores Mana.
Strong: empowers his damage and shields against magic. Weak: he's melee — poke with physical or all-in before he has energy for it.
E
Force PulseKassadin draws energy from spells cast in his vicinity. Upon charging up, Kassadin can use Force Pulse to damage and slow enemies in a cone in front of him.
Strong: a cone that slows and silences, stopping your escape and casts. Weak: it's a skillshot — sidestep it and he can't lock you for his combo.
R
RiftwalkKassadin teleports to a nearby location dealing damage to nearby enemy units. Multiple Riftwalks in a short period of time cost additional Mana but also deal additional damage.
Strong: a short-cooldown blink — endless engage, dodge and escape, near-unkillable late. Weak: costs escalating mana; bait blinks to drain him, and CC him the instant he arrives.
Itemization
Kassadin is AP (with magic-damage scaling). Early magic resist blunts his poke, but the real answer is tempo: end before he scales. Late game, hard CC and a Zhonya's/Banshee's on your carry survive his blink burst.
