Common role: Jungle

The best counter to Nunu & Willump in Jungle is Briar: 57.9% win rate over 555 ranked games on patch 26.21.

A snowball-rolling tank who controls objectives and eats your camps.

What makes Nunu & Willump dangerous

Nunu rolls a growing snowball that knocks up and travels terrain, eats jungle camps and champions with true-damage bites, and channels an ultimate that deals massive damage and shields him. His objective control is the best in the game — he devours dragons and barons through your smite.

How to counter Nunu & Willump

• 1Sidestep the snowball around walls — hitting terrain or dodging it wastes his gank.
• 2Interrupt his ultimate channel with any hard CC — it's his whole teamfight.
• 3Contest objectives with damage, not just smite: his Q bite out-secures.
• 4He falls off hard — survive early ganks and out-scale.

What are Nunu & Willump's weaknesses?

• ✓Falls off significantly in the mid-late game.
• ✓The snowball is loud and visible — ward and it telegraphs every gank.
• ✓His ult channel is interruptible by any hard CC.
• ✓Low damage without the snowball hit.

Abilities & how to counter them

What each of Nunu & Willump's abilities does — and how to play around it.

• P
  Call of the Freljord

Nunu increases the attack speed and Move Speed of Willump and a nearby ally, and causes Willump's basic attacks to damage enemies around the target.

Strong: his and Willump's attacks empower each other for objective melting. Weak: it's PvE-oriented — in a straight duel he's weak without ult.

• Q
  Consume

Willump takes a bite out of a minion, monster, or enemy champion, dealing damage and healing himself.

Strong: a true-damage bite that heals and out-secures objectives. Weak: predictable — burn objectives fast outside his bite window or zone him first.

• W
  Biggest Snowball Ever!

Willump creates a snowball that grows in size and speed as he rolls it. The snowball damages and knocks up enemies.

Strong: a growing snowball that knocks up and crosses terrain. Weak: loud, visible and steerable — sidestep or hug walls; a hit terrain wastes it.

• E
  Snowball Barrage

Nunu throws multiple snowballs that damage enemies. When he's finished, Willump roots any champions or large monsters that were hit by a snowball.

Strong: snowball volleys slow and eventually root you. Weak: short range — the root needs you to STAY close; just walk out.

• R
  Absolute Zero

Nunu & Willump create a powerful blizzard in an area that slows enemies and deals massive damage at the end.

Strong: a channelled AoE nuke with a huge shield — deadly in chokes. Weak: ANY hard CC interrupts it; the damage needs the full channel.

Itemization

Vision defeats the snowball; hard CC defeats the ult. Don't 50/50 objectives — burn them fast before his bite window.
