Skarner counters (Jungle)

Common role: Jungle / Top

The best counter to Skarner in Jungle is Udyr: 56.0% win rate over 115 ranked games on patch 26.21.

A primordial scorpion who drags three enemies through walls.

What makes Skarner dangerous

Skarner rips up a boulder for AoE slams, charges THROUGH walls stunning on impact, shreds with quaking %HP damage, and his ultimate impales up to THREE champions, dragging them wherever he walks. His engage relocates entire backlines into his team.

How to counter Skarner

• 1Spread so the triple-impale finds one body, not three.
• 2QSS breaks the impale instantly.
• 3His wall-charge is a straight line — sidestep the telegraph.
• 4Kite him in open lanes: no walls, weaker engage.

What are Skarner's weaknesses?

• ✓QSS single-handedly answers the ultimate.
• ✓Wall-dependent engage patterns.
• ✓Slow when spells are down — kiteable.
• ✓Wants extended brawls: burst-disengage starves him.

Abilities & how to counter them

What each of Skarner's abilities does — and how to play around it.

• P
  Threads of Vibration

Skarner's Attacks, Shattered Earth, Upheaval, and Impale, apply Quaking. At max stacks of Quaking, enemies take max Health magic damage over its duration.

Strong: his hits quake with bonus %HP damage in trades. Weak: needs sustained contact — kite the scorpion.

• Q
  Shattered Earth / Upheaval

Skarner rips a boulder from the earth that empowers his attacks and can be thrown as a powerful projectile.

Strong: a ripped boulder for slams and a thrown finisher. Weak: readable swings — the throw is a plain skillshot.

• W
  Seismic Bastion

Skarner gains a shield and creates an earthquake whose shockwave damages and slows foes.

Strong: a shield with a quaking slow zone. Weak: pop the shield first and his brawl half-dies.

• E
  Ixtal's Impact

Skarner charges forward and passes through terrain. If he collides with a champion or large monster, he'll slam them into the next wall he hits to damage and stun them.

Strong: charges THROUGH walls, stunning what he grabs. Weak: a straight telegraphed line — one sidestep leaves him in the wall.

• R
  Impale

Skarner's tails lash forward to suppress enemy champions. Once suppressed, the victims will be dragged along by Skarner as he moves around.

Strong: impales up to THREE champions and drags them anywhere. Weak: QSS breaks it instantly; spread so it skewers one, not three.

Itemization

QSS on carries, spread formations, open-field fights. Punish his cooldown windows with kiting.
