What makes Udyr dangerous

Udyr cycles four stances — a damage-over-time claw (Q), a defensive shield (W), a bear stance that grants move speed and a point-blank stun (E), and a phoenix AoE burst (R). Awakening a stance twice empowers it. He sticks to a target, stuns them and grinds them down with sustain.

How to play against Udyr

• 1Kite his bear stance — he needs to reach you to stun, so use range and slows.
• 2Bring Grievous Wounds; his turtle stance sustains him through trades.
• 3He has no ranged threat — poke him down before he closes the gap.
• 4Save your dash/Flash for his stun; once E is used you have a window.

• ✓Limited gap-close outside of bear move speed — kite him.
• ✓Grievous Wounds cripples his turtle sustain.
• ✓No ranged poke; he must commit to reach you.
• ✓Predictable stun timing you can juke.

  Bridge Between

  Udyr has four basic Abilities that swap between Stances and can Recast an Ability to renew it with Ultimate benefits. Additionally, after using an Ability, Udyr's next two Attacks gain Attack Speed.

  Strong: awakening a stance twice empowers it with bonus effects. Weak: he can only empower one stance at a time — read which he's committing to.

  Wilding Claw

  Udyr gains attack speed and his next two attacks deal bonus physical damage. Recast: Gain even more attack speed, and the next two attacks call lightning to strike the target.

  Strong: tiger stance stacks heavy damage-over-time. Weak: melee only — kite him and the DoT never applies.

• W
  Iron Mantle

  Udyr gains a shield and his next two attacks heal him. Recast: Gain an even bigger shield and heal based on max health over the next couple seconds.

  Strong: turtle stance shields and sustains him through poke. Weak: Grievous Wounds guts its healing.

• E
  Blazing Stampede

  Udyr gains movement speed and his first attack against each target will Stun them. Recast: Gain even more movement speed and immunity to immobilizing effects for a couple seconds.

  Strong: bear stance grants move speed and a point-blank stun to stick to you. Weak: he needs to reach you — save your dash for the stun.

• R
  Wingborne Storm

  Udyr surrounds himself in a glacial storm, damaging and slowing nearby enemies. Recast: Empower and unleash the storm, causing it to track enemies and deal additional damage.

  Strong: phoenix stance adds AoE burst around him in fights. Weak: short range — spacing keeps you out of the burn.
